Algeria is among the safest countries on the planet, in terms of security and peace. According to The Gallup Organization, an American structure well known for its various polls.
Algeria ranks first in Africa and 7th in the world in terms of peace and security. The ranking, cited by the Ecofin Agency, gave Algeria a score of 90 points out of 100. Based on an index from a survey of 136,000 people in 135 countries – including 37 African countries – in the world in 2016, the study assessed people’s sense of security and their personal experiences with crime and law enforcement. To do this, a certain amount of information is collected. These mainly concern: the confidence of the population in the local police, the feeling of security by walking alone at night in the city or region of residence, the cases of theft suffered by the respondents or their relatives, or the case of aggression. According to the same document, more than six out of ten people in the world say they trust their local police (68%) and feel safe walking alone at night (64%). One in seven (14%) say they had stolen property in the survey reference year and 6% said they had been assaulted.
